I’m so happy your thinking about learning to play the piano! I promise you it’s lots of fun and you will make some beutiful music!

Learning go to play the piano is also a big investment of brain power, time and money.

Before you dive in, it’s important for you and me to both understand your goals and ambitions at the piano.

Why do you want to take piano lessons?

Do you want to play Mozart and Bach, Gershwin and Porter, Lennon and McCartney?

Do you want to play songs from your favorite artist, or Christmas carols?

Do you just want to be able to sight read music that you like?

Do you want to write your own songs?

Do you want to be able to sit down at the piano and just play?

Have you sung in choirs, played in bands, taken any other music lessons?

I can help you:

  • Learn to play a variety of songs and repertoire in a variety of styles from baroque to pop,

  • improvise your own songs or learn to chord from a lead sheet,

  • compose your own music,

  • and learn to analyze and understand the songs that you are playing, composing, and improvising.

Adult Intermediate and Advanced Students

Online Lessons

What you need

  • You need a piano or electric keyboard (need help? ask me),

  • you need a computer, tablet or phone with webcam and Zoom (Zoom has a ‘Music Lesson’ function that is great!),

  • A chair or table with some thick books so you can prop your webcam about 6-9 inches above the keyboard so I can see you and your hands on the keyboard.

 

How it works

  • We will set up a time once a week for a lesson (days or evenings),

  • I will drop any materials you need at your home or ship to you,

  • I will call you at the lesson time is and,

  • I will share a Google Doc with you to track assignments and progress.

My Setup

A webcam for me. So I can talk to you.

A webcam for my hands so I can demonstrate for you.

I can share my screen so we can talk about the music you are playing.
